Plug and Play

Plug and Play, un gioco per tablet e smartphones

Plug and Play is a game available on iTunes and Google Play, an experiment between interaction and short film created by Michael Frei, Mario von Rickenbach and Zurich based Etter Studio. This year the game has been nominated for the Nuovo Award at the 2015 Independent Games Festival held in San Francisco.

The short film becomes a game, inviting you to explore the life of anthropoid creatures at the mercy of their feelings that go beyond sexuality and reproduction. A heavenly music, almost divine, accompanies the action while you explore a surreal and minimal world in the alternation of black and white.

The game is based on the short film of the same name created by the video maker and animator Michael Frei that received numerous awards at festivals all over the world such as 2Annas, Animateka, Cinanima, Encounters, Fantoche.

Afterwards, the Swiss designer and programmer Mario von Rickenbach and the Etter Studio joined Michael Frei to create the interactive version of the animated short film. This is what Etter Studio said in an interview with CAN (Creative Applications Network):

The idea was to give the viewers, who are all so eager to jump around the narrative, more control over his movie. At the same time he wanted to have more control over the way the audience experiences the film by not allowing to skip the narrative without interacting with it and therefore become part of it.
